CANDIDATES PROFILE
Mining engineers, civil engineers or geologists with some years of professional experience in companies, public administration or an institution of higher education.
TEACHING PROGRAM: English session (2011, 2013) and French session (2012, 2014)
MODULE 1 : Review of basic concepts (6 weeks)
- Field training (engineering geology, mine and environment)
- Micro-computing and Statistics
- Open pit mining and underground water
- Characterization and mechanical behaviour of soil and rock masses.
MODULE 2 :Deposit modelling and Mine project (5 weeks)
- Management of mineral resources
- Geological modelling of depositt
- Geostatistics and resources evaluation
- Technical parameterization of reserves and pit design, simulations of mining operations
- Mine planning
- Sampling and reconciliation
MODULE 3 : Mine project design and mining operations (5 weeks)
- Mine project design: evolution of the world mining strategy, resources and reserves,
different stages of a mining project; feasibility, financing and mine scheduling
- Mining operations: mining methods and equipment in open pit mines and quarries.
- Economics research applied to mining
MODULE 4 : Technical aspects in open pit mining (3 weeks)
- Rock mass blasting
- Ground mass movements and slope stability in open pit mines and quarries
- Environment and safety in open pit mines.
MODULE 5 : Technical visits of mines and quarries in France and abroad (2 weeks)
Additional Lectures (2 weeks)
- French language lectures
- Miscellaneous: Operationl research applied to mining, mine planning, ore processing; presentation by the trainee of their professional experience.
Personal application work (12 weeks)
DIPLOMA
Successful trainees are awarded a national French degree in specialized training conferred by Mines ParisTech and the Ministry in charge of mines.
